Well, the Battle Lines Have Been Drawn...
Damn, I can't seem to get away from this topic, can I? And I'm sure as hell some have stumbled onto the opinions I've done and are less than happy with them. I look at it this way- opinions are like assholes: everyone has one. Now onto my next little piece, which pertains to the battles roaring on between the "Sara Is My Heroine" crew and the Anti-Sara Brigade. Again, this is one of those "hold on for the ride" deals. I don't know where I really start or where I shall end; I just hope that it forms some kind of structure.
Sara has been an active person on TV, either live or via video, for about a month or more. And with her appearance, the fronts have become more and more defined as the weeks have gone on. For some, this topic has created a full-fledged war. For others, it's led to some pretty civil disagreeing. And my stance in this whole thing pretty defined: I'm one of the Anti-Sara Brigade. Unfortunately, I'm lumped in with a varied bunch. From what I've seen, there are varying levels to this group. Below are the subgroups I've observed in this pack.
- One, there are the ones like me who resent her moving to the head of the class, so to speak, based on who she's bagged. They don't like seeing her put above other talented women, such as Tori, Jackie, Ivory, Trish, or Molly. I think these fans are the ones who realize there's more to wrestling than the Undertaker and what the Undertaker does at every show. They tend to look at the whole picture and can formulate a good argument as to why they don't like seeing her in the show and how it's impacted both the Undertaker character and the show itself. And they're not "jealous," "psychos," or "delusional" like some think. Personally, I think that's such a weak-ass retort to what I've seen as intelligent statements coming from this group. This group could care less that they're married or their life out the arena, they just don't like the fact she's riding in on his coattails to break in instead of doing it herself, if she's such a great "actress." And many of them they feel it impacts his legacy in negative way. While he'll be known as the old-school UT, he'll also be remembered for this mishmash angle with Page and the only one who got a rub from it is Sara, who I'm sure will remain in the WWF after Taker's time has gone.
- Two, if you want to talk "jealous," "psychos," or "delusional," this next Anti-Sara group is it. These are the folks who couldn't give one shit about the show or wrestling, in general; UT is the reason they watch and is the object of their obsession. They want to see Sara gone but just not off of TV: their intentions are more morbid and dangerous. I'm figuring they're planning their stalking trips to "save" UT as I type. This group is one reason this angle was pretty stupid to be put on the TV; Taker seems to think that just because he doesn't play the Lord of Darkness anymore, the nutsos are gone. Sad thing is the whole Anti-Sara Brigade is being measured by these folks, even thought they aren't the majority. I love how some can judge a book by its cover.
And then there are the Sara Lovers. The ones who feel she's just amazing and can act her ass off. They see nothing wrong concering Sara being pushed to the top of the "Divas" thanks to some politicking from her husband to get her in the door. Oh boy is there a group of these folks. I'm betting this is the group that never takes the blinders off for UT and think everything from the Ministry to his Harley story was nothing short of fuckin' inspired. They are the first group to defend Sara to the hilt, yet are the ones calling other "Divas" less-than appropriate names for doing the same things she has. For example, Trish or Debra have been called sluts or bimbos by many for wearing a bikini or revealing clothes but if Sara does, it's "wow- she's so gorgeous." This group also seems to think that the folks who don't appreciate Sara's less-than great acting in the show are completely wrong. Actually, I think the behavior of some of this group is deplorable: they're hellbent on judging and insulting those who don't think that Sara is the best damn thing that's happened to the WWF for some time. I think that is obsessive and all I have to say about this is get a fuckin' grip.
They've also made some of the Anti-Sara people afraid to post anywhere, due to this behavior. Right now, I've only seen a few places where the "Sara is a Goddess" folks have yet to tread. One of MIPB.net, my haven on the 'net. Of course, you jack with any of the posters there, you'll be given a virtual verbal ass-whoopin'. Many of the members there epitomize the smart wrestling fan to a tee. And the second is Sabretooth's Corrupted Crypt, which is a cool site, by the way. There's also a Yahoo! club I found while surfing called "Big Daddy Deadman's Yard." Anyhow, it's nice to see at least a few places on the 'net that free speech is still encouraged and defended. And you can tell I'm not one of the afraid because, hell, I'm not one to be a lemming. I'm also not like some who are afraid Taker might read this therefore I should be so saccharine that it's sickening. And like I've written before, what I put on this page or on other ones in this section of the site is an opinion. If you think I'm full of shit, so be it. I sure ain't gonna lose sleep over it. Surprisingly, this site is one of my hobbies and I do have an active and fulfilling life outside of this computer. If you like what I wrote, that's cool with me. But I'm sure as hell not one of those losers who have enough time to go to forum to forum and preach that their way is the only one and you're wrong for thinking the way you do. And funny thing is many of these people say those who don't think the same way they do are obsessive losers who do nothing but live on the computer.
Now back to the debate. I'm still wondering why the hell she's being defended so much. She's Taker's wife- big deal. Just because she's married to him doesn't mean she should have this blanket of protection as to her on-air personality. Concerning their private lives, however, they should still have a veil of protection unless they really start playing it up into their professional lives. But, professionally I feel she should be open to as much criticism as the next "Diva" or WWF wrestler.
Personally, I can't see the fuss about her acting. Her promos are about as inspiring as an X-Factor one. Last time I checked, an X-Factor promo is means one of the following: 1. Beer Break 2. Bathroom Break or 3. Nappy Time. And it's like she's a split personality, as shown with Mr. Falkenberg when he got a hold of her hair. She doesn't seem to know whether she should be a Miss Elizabeth- type or if she should march down to that ring and be a take-no-shit, kickass diva: the type that leaves you believing that she could really jack someone up. Before trying to be a kickass diva, she should get some lessons on how to swing a kendo (Francine, we're calling you...in fact, Francine, get your hardcore ass here in the WWF.) and how to punch (tuck in those thumbs). I'm also not impressed that she took one bump. Some of the Sara Lovers may say, "give her a break: she's new." Yes, for the newbies there should be some slack because it's their first time at the big show. And the spotlight is on her more since she's in a much higher profile than Johnny Jobber, who starts at the bottom of the ladder and goes up, rung by rung. However, she should have some obvious glimmers that she had any preparation for this role for me to give any slack, a thing which isn't apparrent to me.
Outside of her lack of skill, the thing I don't like about her on-air appearance (and the majority factor in my dislike of the whole deal) is the fact that she's only there and in that position because of who her husband is. She's moved towards the head of the class, stepping over women who have been there a hell of a lot longer than she has (and more talented). Being a fan of professional wrestling, and an older-school one at that, it doesn't sit well with me.
